WURMBERG
From the town of Braunlage, we took a cable car up to the top of the Wurmberg Mountain, the second highest mountain in the Harz. (Let's face it, even if you don't like skiiing, almost everyone loves a cable car ride, especially children, and this cable car ride was a nice long one.) Outside of the ski season, the mountain is quiet and there were hardly any tourists around, but it is well worth taking the trip to the top. The Wurmberg is basically on the old border between East and West Germany and you can see out across the landscape of the Harz from the summit. There are information boards at the top of the mountain telling you all about the history of the Wurmberg, and an old ski jump building as well. While we were in the area, we were delighted to get some snow to play with. It wasn't a heavy snowfall, but it was definitely enough to have a snowball fight! FIND OUT MORE |
