TREVI FOUNTAIN
After a hot day visiting the sights of Rome, the Trevi Fountain is the perfect spot to sit, cool down and recover. As you approach through the narrow lanes of Rome, you can sense that you are about to see something pretty special. You don't really need to look at a map to find the fountain - just follow the flow of people heading there from the Pantheon. When you round the corner into the square where the Fountain is situated, the air seems to cool suddenly. Our first sight of the Fountain took our breaths away! The fountain is a splendid mix of foaming horses, naturalistic rocks and falling water. The noise of the water is incredible. There are rows of seats in the area in front of the Fountain, and you can also sit on the edge of the fountain to cool down and admire the beautiful sculptures. Of course you must make sure to throw a coin into the water, because the legend promises that if you do, you will return to Rome again. Our kids were very disgruntled when we told them the story of coins being stolen from the fountain. FIND OUT MORE |
