PALMENGARTEN
The Palmengarten is a huge botanical garden in Frankfurt, full of fascinating plants and flowers from around the world. As well as a number of greenhouses and hot houses, there are also lakes and an area for children to play. The plants are divided up into different varieties - roses, heathers, mediterranean, succulents, and so on. You could easily spend a number of hours walking around the gardens, and on a sunny day it is a lovely place to sit and have a picnic. During the year, the Palmengarten puts on various events, according to the seasons. They also had some small animals on display when we visited, as well. While we were there, our children particularly loved a huge wooden building made out of tree trunks (not quite a hut, more like a pavilion), that they could play inside. The tree trunks are laid sideways and so they make idea platforms to sit on, and to climb around. From April to October there is also a little train that takes you all around the gardens, which is handy because it is a long way to walk. FIND OUT MORE |
