LISBON OCEANARIUM
Lisbon's Oceanarium is located in the Parque das Nações, which is the name given to the area where the Expo that was held in Lisbon in 1998. The aquarium is housed in a very striking looking building - the building appears to float in the marina. You walk up to the aquarium via a long walkway that takes you across the water and into the main building. The aquarium is set out in an unusual way, featuring both 'above the sea' and 'below the sea', showing you the terrestrial and marine eco-systems in four different climactic zones. There is a huge central tank, with rays, sharks and an enormous sunfish - as you walk around there are lots of places where you can just sit and contemplate the amazing creatures inside the tank. The Oceanarium is a fantastic resource for learning about sea and ocean life - both above and below the waves. FIND OUT MORE |
