EIFFEL TOWER
The Eiffel Tower is such an iconic part of Paris and France, that we simply had to visit it. You can book ahead for tickets, and go up in the lift, but we decided to walk up the first two levels. The only way to the top of the tower is via a lift, but you can join the queue for this at the top of the second section. As you climb the stairs, you can pause to read information boards that tell you all about the history of the tower. The view from the top over Paris is, as you would expect, completely stunning. We all agreed that it was well worth the walk. A little known fact about Eiffel, is that he also built many structures in other parts of the world. There is a metal railway/car bridge in a town in Portugal called Viana do Castelo, that we often cross when we visit the area. It is known, of course, as the Ponte Eiffel! FIND OUT MORE |
